Job 5: 8-10

          A man of the land, a caretaker, a provider, not just for his family, but for families around the world.  A man who perseveres, who is patient.  A man of faith.  Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.  This verse truly applies to a West Texas dryland cotton farmer.  Faith is when you can’t see a cloud in the sky, but know the rain will come.  The title of this painting is “Life Giver”.  Of course, in the dryland of West Texas, rain is definitely a life giver.

          For 26 years I have been married to a dryland cotton farmer and I am glad God has shown me His life giving examples from my husband and the farm He has entrusted us with.  God is truly our life giver, from the very breath we breathe, to the rain for our cotton, to most importantly, our eternal salvation.

          Looking for the rain—Looking for answers from God; Sometimes it pours—Sometimes God gives us the answer right away; Sometimes it sprinkles—Sometimes God gives us enough to just keep us going; Sometimes there are only clouds—Sometimes God shows us hope but not a definite answer; Sometimes there are not clouds—Sometimes God says wait. 

          God is our Life Giver.  He alone gives us real abundant life here on earth and eternal life with Him in heaven, if only we will believe.  Won’t you let the Giver of Life give you life forever, by asking Him to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart to be the Lord of your life?  Trust God to send the rain, the Life Giving water to your soul.
